Description Due Date Resolved Subject to regulation 3 of this Annex, the operation of a marine diesel engine that is installed on a ship constructed on or after 1 January 2016: is subject to the standards set forth in paragraph 5.1.1 of this regulation when the ship is operating in an emission control area designated under paragraph 6 of this regulation. On 06 May 2020, the Owner's Representative of the subject vessel reported a leak on the Main Engine Exhaust Gas re-circulation (EGR) cooler,rendering the EGR system inoperable. The cooler was blanked and the system isolated. As a result, the vessel's Main Engine would temporarily be non-compliant with MARPOL Annex VI, Reg. 13.5.1.1 (i.e. Tier III), which is required when the vessel is operating in an ECA area.
